Student Visa, Graduate Visa, and High-Potential Individual Visa

The UK offers several immigration routes tailored for international students and highly skilled individuals looking to study, work or stay in the UK after completing their education. Passportia can assist with applications for the Student Visa, Graduate Visa and High-Potential Individual (HPI) Visa, helping you navigate each stage of the process.

Student Visa

The Student Visa is designed for international students who wish to study in the UK at a recognised educational institution. It allows you to stay in the UK for the duration of your course and, in some cases, to work part-time during your studies. After completing your degree, you may be eligible to switch to the Graduate Visa or other work visas to remain in the UK.

To apply for a Student Visa, you will need:

  • A Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) from a licensed educational provider
  • Proof of sufficient funds to support yourself during your studies
  • English language proficiency, demonstrated through an approved test
  • Additional documentation depending on your course and circumstances

Graduate Visa

The Graduate Visa allows international students who have successfully completed an eligible degree in the UK to stay and work, or look for work, for up to two years (or three years for PhD graduates). This visa is unsponsored, meaning you don’t need a job offer to apply, and it provides a valuable opportunity to gain work experience in the UK before considering further routes such as the Skilled Worker Visa.

To apply for the Graduate Visa, you must:

  • Have completed a degree at a UK higher education provider with a track record of compliance
  • Apply from within the UK before your Student Visa expires
  • Provide proof of successful course completion and other required documents

High-Potential Individual (HPI) Visa

The High-Potential Individual (HPI) Visa is a route for recent graduates from top global universities who wish to live and work in the UK. Unlike other visas, this route does not require a job offer or sponsorship, making it an attractive option for individuals seeking opportunities in the UK.

To qualify for the HPI Visa, you must:

  • Have graduated within the last five years from an eligible global university, listed by the UK government.
  • Hold a qualification equivalent to a UK bachelor’s degree or higher.
  • Meet the English language requirement.
  • Provide financial evidence to support yourself during your time in the UK.

The HPI Visa allows you to stay in the UK for two years (three years for PhD holders) and provides the flexibility to work, seek employment, or establish a business. This route does not lead to settlement. Before the visa expires, you may switch to other work-based visas such as the Skilled Worker Visa if you meet the requirements.
