GBM Immigration Routes Designed for foreign workers to work in a UK branch
What is the Global Business Mobility Route?
The Global Business Mobility visa encompasses five different sponsored work routes designed for employees of foreign companies to undertake temporary work in the UK. This visa category was introduced to replace and broaden existing UK work and business visas, with the goal of facilitating non-UK organizations in exploring opportunities in the UK by allowing them to send certain workers to perform specific tasks.
The Global Business Mobility route includes the following five visa types:
- Senior or Specialist Worker: For employees with specialist knowledge transferring to a UK branch.
- UK Expansion Worker: For employees setting up a new UK presence for an overseas company.
- Graduate Trainee: For graduates on specialised training programmes in a UK branch.
- Service Supplier: For individuals delivering specific services to a UK client under a contract.
- Secondment Worker: For employees temporarily assigned to work in the UK to do an eligible job for a different organisation. The worker’s overseas employer must have a high-value contract with the UK organisation.
We have introduced the Senior and Specialist Worker and UK Expansion Worker routes in separate links:
Graduate Trainee
The Graduate Trainee route has replaced the previous Intra-Company Graduate Trainee route. It is designed for international employees participating in a graduate training program that prepares them for a senior management or specialist role, and whose employer requires them to complete a work placement in the UK. The applicant cannot extend the leave on this route inside the UK, but they can apply for another Graduate Trainee visa from outside the UK.
Service Supplier
The Service Supplier route has replaced the previous Temporary Work – International Agreement route. It is designed for contractual service providers employed by overseas companies or self-employed professionals based abroad, seeking to carry out temporary assignments in the UK to deliver services covered under an international trade agreement with the UK.
Secondment Worker Visa
The Secondment Worker route is intended for foreign employees who are being seconded to the UK to complete temporary assignments as part of a high-value contract made by their overseas employer.
